Quickest Way To Start Making Money Online – TODAY! Really!

If you are just starting out online you will notice there are some immediate costs that arise. It may be the monthly subscription to your autoresponder, a software program, or an eBook you have been eyeing.
There may not be any money in your budget if you are just getting started online or just starting to learn about internet business so here is a great way to get making some very quick, although modest, cash online.
It is a site called Fiverr.com
This amazing site is helping thousands of people make money with their talents… $5 at a time!
Don’t think you have a talent someone would pay for? HA! Think again.
Check Out What People Are Buying For $5!
- A 1 minute video on YouTube made by a girl who sits in a chair and raves about your website
- A YouTube Video of a guy doing card tricks with your company site or logo on his cards
- A phone call to anyone, anywhere in the world
- A video singing happy birthday to your grandma
- Ad space on PR4 sites
- Twitter tweets about their sites by people who have over 20,000 followers
- Cartoon renderings of themselves
- Written Content for a Blog
- Logos
- Ad Copy
The list is endless, and growing rapidly!
Quick and Easy Setup
It takes minutes to set up a profile and start posting gigs. Gigs are basically what YOU will do for $5. This site is literally ingenious. I had some gigs up and started pulling in cash in a matter of hours.
Some Things You Need To Know
- You need to add pictures to your gigs. It can be anything but they recommend not using the same pics for different gigs. If you are an artist, this isn’t a problem since you can use examples of your work, but if you are not you may have to look around for Creative Commons type pics to use.
- You need to make $40 in gigs before you can get your cash out.
- You can get your cash by check or PayPal account only.
Check out Fiverr.com and go get making that money, then, stop back and tell us how you did…and if I can hire you! =)
Twitter Over Capacity Issues Bring Impressive Coverage
June 15, 2010 by Deirdre J
The recent Over Capacity issues which Twitter is experiencing is gaining a marked amount of buzz in Social Media and Internet Marketing circles. So it got me to thinking about the implications.
Twitter has not seen such a problem with capacity issues since its hockey stick growth in the late spring and early summer of 2009. If you read their blog, you will see that they are going through some upgrades and making changes to their services which may be contributing to the problem. What has really caught my attention, however, is the amount of chatter this has created across the web.
I went to log in to Twitter this morning and got the fail whale once again. This prompted a text search of the term “Twitter Over Capacity” which I narrowed to the past 24 hours. This search brought up over 35,000 results!!
They do say that even bad press is good press, so Twitter is definitely getting some serious web time based on this newest capacity issue.
I’m not saaying that the best way to gain popularity (I’m thinking Twitter doesn’t need the popularity right now) is to piss off your users, but it is a good example of how people love to spread bad information much more rapidly than good.
Hopefully, they will be back to normal soon and I am looking forward to some improvements to my experience as a result. I just wanted to give a new spin on the latest issues and provide the up side!
Happy Tweeting.

Getting Started Online – Online Business Ideas For Beginners – Part I
November 14, 2009 by Deirdre J
Filed under Getting Started, Learning Series
There are many business models for an Online Business. It is often the Internet Business beginner’s daunting task to find these various business ideas, understand how they work, and learn ways to profit with them. It is also difficult to decide which model will work best for YOU.
In this first article I will explain 2 of the most popular online business types. I think they are a good starting point for online business newbies. The models I chose here are well-known, easy to learn, and there is an abundance of information that you can find, for little or no cost, to help you get started. These models are ideal if you are starting out with little or no start up money and limited internet experience.
FREELANCING
The first of this type is Freelancing. Once thought to be available only to the writers and artists of the world, freelancing is fast becoming one of the most popular ways to make money online. Sites like Elance, oDesk, Guru, and Rent-A-Coder have made it extremely easy to get started to get up and running with a freelancer profile in less than a few hours. Some of the most popular freelance openings are:
Writers – These include article and report writers, eBook writers, blog posters, forum posters, copy writers, review writers and much more.
Researchers – Web researchers have grown in popularity to become one of the most sought after freelancers. Research takes time and today’s online marketers would rather spend that time on other tasks and outsource the research tasks to others. This area of freelance requires no more than internet access, a computer, and time.
Graphic Artist – Logo design, banner creation and web page design is a great way to get started in freelancing. Perhaps your background and education is in this area OR you just enjoy it as a hobby. Either way, graphic artists do very well in freelance.
Programmers – This includes every aspect of programming. It seems this area is a mystery to many and those who need this service are willing to pay very good money for a good programmer.
Freelancing jobs are abundant. Check out the sites listed above and for more information about getting started. You can also check out Escape from Corporate America: A Practical Guide to Creating the Career of Your Dreams
by Pamela Skillings. Skillings is an author and career coach who writes about her escape from the corporate world and discussed how others can do the same.
AFFILIATE MARKETING
In a nutshell Affiliate Marketing can be defined as commissioned sales online. The difference with Affiliate Marketing is that you do not need to have a sales background to get started and you do not have to do any of that dreaded cold calling or the face to face sales pitch.
Affiliate Marketers are promoters of other people’s products and services. They make a commission based on the type of product or service and that company’s affiliate program. Many of these programs are very generous offering up to 75% commission per sale.
So what types of products or services can you promote? Just about anything! eBooks, websites, dog grooming products, electronics, outdoor furniture and many consumer products that you probably use yourself have affiliate programs available. You can look for affiliate programs on some of your favorite sites. Just look in the headers, footers, or sidebars of these sites for links called AFFILIATES, AFFILIATE PROGRAMS, or PROMOTE.
Another way to find these programs is through Affiliate Retail Outlets like Clickbank and Commission Junction. These sites offer Marketplaces where you an locate 100s of products and services to promote.
How do you promote these products once you find them? There are many ways to promote as an Affiliate. If you have a website or blog you can post banner ads on your site or you can promote through list building and email marketing. Review sites are another great way to promote products. You can create a brief review and then offer the product you are promoting within the article. You can even promote products without a website through Pay-Per-Click advertising or Article Marketing.
Affiliate Marketing is one of my favorite online business models because you can get started for very little money and with limited experience. If this seems like it might interest you then I recommend you check out Rosalind Gardner’s “The Super Affiliate Handbook”. It was the first book I read on Affiliate Marketing and it is one of the most comprehensive guides on the market today. Rosalind just updated her handbook in September 2009 with the most up-to-date techniques for Affiliate Marketers. It is required reading for any new affiliate.
Freelancing and Affiliate Marketing are two great ways to get started making money online. They are very appealing to the beginner because they require little or no money to get started and are suited for individuals with a variety of experience levels.
In the next article I will discuss more online business ideas including creating your own saleable product, micro sites, and pay-per-click. Check back soon!

WEEKLY FREEBIE – Search Engine Optimization For Beginners
November 9, 2009 by Deirdre J
Filed under Freebies, Getting Started, Weekly Freebie
This week I have been spending quite a bit of time on SEO. It has become very apparent to me that two of the most vital areas of education for beginners should be SEO and Keyword Research. Collectively, these two areas will not only be the most challenging for Internet Business beginners, but they will also give the most value and ROI overall.
With that in mind, I am focusing the freebies this week and next to SEO and Keyword Research. This week is SEO.
The following guides will prove extremely helpful to beginners. They are both free to download and are in pdf format. To read them you will need to download and install the free Adobe Reader if you don’t already have it.
The first is direct from the source. Google offers up their Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide as a helpful tool to understanding the basics of SEO and what you can do to make your site more SEO friendly to both the user and the Search Engines. Although the guide was written in 2008, most of what is discussed is timeless SEO information.
The second guide is from Dan Thies. It is the SEO Fast Start guide. Dan is an SEO expert who has been at it since the days of Netscape. Dan’s guide is 100 pages packed with essential information on SEO in easy to understand terms. Dan discusses key areas including keyword research, usability, site structure, and link building. It is a great guide for beginners.
I hope you will check out both guides and please leave me some feedback on them.
Next week my freebies will be focused on keyword research. Stop back or just sign up to our newsletter for updates.
Here’s To FREEBIES!!

Generating Website Traffic – Viral Marketing Techniques Can Build Traffic
November 9, 2009 by Deirdre J
Filed under Learning Series, Website Traffic

This is going to be the last article in the Generating Website Traffic series.
Please also be sure to read the first two articles in this series, The Power of Inbound Links and Consistent, Quality Content, to learn even more ways to drive traffic to your site.
In this last segment we are going to examine Viral Marketing Techniques that you can use for traffic generation.
One of the most valuable means of creating traffic flow to your site with little input from you is viral marketing. With it, you are able to send a marketing message to select recipients, who can then pass the message along to other individuals. This type of marketing is simple and cost-efficient, making it suitable to almost any budget.
When your products are high quality, your message is conveyed to a large number of individuals.
Online marketers have a desire to introduce excellent products and/or services to their own customers. For that reason, the more appeal your products/services hold, the faster you will spread your marketing message. This creates very high traffic to your site.
To launch your viral marketing crusade, create e-books, articles, and/or reports and send them to specific recipients without charge. This simply encompasses designing a product/tool, passing it on, and then allowing someone else to carry it on more, so any online marketer can do it.
Prime illustrations of viral marketing:
Present good quality products and/or tools that present your best marketing message. Create reports and e-books that are researched well and be sure to include your URL on each one. Most people enjoy receiving e-books and reports without charge. They should offer excellent information on your subject so that those who read them will want to visit your site. Those that enjoy what you’ve sent will redistribute the material, resulting in more traffic flow in addition to heightened product or business marketing. You can also offer a free service or product on your web site that spreads your message to an increasing number of people who hear about it. Send out news releases concerning the free service or product available on your site. This in turn will generate huge volumes of traffic to your website.
It can also be beneficial to create an affiliate program that offers links to your service or product. If you are able to afford them, offer financial incentives for those sites that are willing to pass on your unique marketing message to others. Allow Internet marketers to distribute your URL on their own lists by adding something such as a “recommend” or “refer” option on the site. You can generate tremendous traffic with an affiliate program promoting your site.
Make use of traffic-exchange programs to exchange site links with Internet marketers like you. Adding your site’s link to another website allows those who are interested to bookmark your site, or pass it along to others who might be interested in your subject material or product.
Create superior articles and request that webmasters post them without charge as site content. If you are (or consider yourself to be) and expert in your field, create a report about that field and post it as free content on related sites, being certain to add your URL to the report. Distribute your best quality articles on sites that allow you to retain the reprinting rights, and more directories, e-zines, and newsletters with publish them, including your author resource box and company URL. In this manner, the URL is trafficked all across the web, generating a massive flow of traffic to your site.
Maximize your viral marketing power and you will spread your message over the web and generate massive traffic quantities to your site.
More Traffic To Ya!

Tips For Affiliate Newbies
October 31, 2009 by Deirdre J
Filed under Affiliate Programs, Getting Started
I have recently started studying information on becoming an Affiliate / Super Affiliate. I have been at this for about six months now and have spent a majority of that time doing a load of research on both products and programs. I have found a lot of useful information but have also found a lot more useless information, scams, and bogus content.
If becoming an Affiliate or an Internet Marketer is something that you have been looking into then I hope these tips will help you on your way and save you some time.
1. Do your research! Read all you can from other Affiliates and see what they are doing and how they got there. Reading their stories and How-Tos has proven invaluable and has helped me to avoid many Newbie mistakes. Two books I suggest are “Make a Fortune Promoting Other People’s Stuff Online” by Rosalind Gardner and “Affiliate Millions” by Anthony Borelli and Greg Holden. Both books are packed with vital information for understanding and mastering Affiliate Marketing. (You can link to both of these books from the bottom of this post.)
2. Don’t fall for all the scams. There are 1000s if not tens of thousands of products out there that promise to make you an overnight success…JUST SAY NO! One thing I have learned is that there is an abundance of free information out there via blogs and podcasts that can serve the same purpose as those $97 programs everyone is selling. Search iTunes for podcasts on Affiliate Marketing and Internet Marketing. Search for blogs on Internet Marketing and Affiliate Marketing. You can learn so much by just listening/reading.
3. Don’t expect immediate results. Growing a good Affiliate business will take time. Don’t expect to start receiving $1000 checks in the mail tomorrow. If you do…more power to you! (and uh, send me your secrets!) but chances are you will not. Don’t get frustrated…it will come!
4. Expect to put the time in. Building sites, writing quality content, and researching Affiliate programs takes time. Expect to put your nose to the grindstone a bit. If you already work fulltime, spare a few hours each night. Turn off that TV and get to work!
5. Know the products and programs you are promoting. Read the terms and conditions. Also, try to promote products and services you are familiar with. It makes writing reviews and promotion so much easier. If you have never ordered or used the product before, then order it…read through the material…scrutinize the ship time and Customer Service. Offering your customers quality products and services will build trust and keep them coming back.
6. Keep it real. Avoid content generators and programs that write articles for you. Although these tools will save time, they will lack quality and quality is what you want to build…not a lot of useless words on a page.
7. Promote it! Promote yourself…DONT BE SHY!!! Get out there and tell the world what you are doing, what you are writing and what you are reviewing. Sites like Facebook, Twitter, Squidoo, and Tumblr will help you spread the word and share stories with other Affiliates…so get on it!
I hope these few tips will help you on your way and don’t forget to check out these two great Affiliate Marketing books to get you started.
To Your Success!

How Outsourcing Can Help the Busy Entrepreneur – Guest Post
October 25, 2009 by Deirdre J
Filed under Featured, Outsourcing, SEO, Time Management
If you’re a regular reader here, you’ll see that Deidre’s October 5, 2009, blog post: “DON’T GIVE UP! Beginners need to persevere!” is a perfect predecessor to the comments I’m including today about the beauty of “outsourcing” and tapping into utilizing a Virtual Assistant…
Been there, done that!
There’s a great, often-used saying that “experience is the best teacher,” and so I come as a “mini-teacher”–with a good bunch of offline and online experience I’m eager to share; a lot of it gathered from the assessments of my own recent e-journey as a VA.
For the most part, I know what you’re going through since I’ve walked in your shoes to some degree. Although I’d had years and years in an office support services setting, three-and-a-half years ago I, too, was a beginner to the online world of e-business with little to no idea what to do next or when. Or at what physical or financial cost!
I just knew I wanted to shift my knowledge and expertise to a profession that would help to keep me in clothes and food! I also knew that while I had a bucketful of experience, there would be some things I would not be able to or even want to do.
After a good deal of online research, I found the Virtual Assistant (VA) industry and eagerly but apprehensively entered its ranks shortly thereafter. A move that’s turned out to be a Godsend for me as I was able to earn while I learned!
Furthermore, I know that various members of the VA industry have been a significant “tool” in the online lives of thousands of solo-, small- and mid-size business entrepreneurs like you.
I’ll put this into perspective with this:
You’re “up to here” with an email box so full that a bottle of Rolaids isn’t strong enough to lessen the pain. You haven’t seen your spouse or kids for seven days because they’re sleeping when you’re working. You think there’s some “do” coming up but your appointment calendar is long-gone (or maybe it’s under the pile of papers on your desk)…wherever that is!
Facing all that in the wee hours of each day and into the spooky hours of the night, your conclusion is that you just might need a little bit of help. Goodness knows, you’re getting nothing done as it is now, nor are you able to even think about approaching a new client.
What about changing your letterhead, or the logo on your Web site–who’s got time for a Web site? Writing articles to submit to Article Directories; starting an Affiliate program? Uhhh! Forget about it!
These are just some of the things outsourcing can do or improve for you.
Particularly in today’s economic climate, it’s a tremendous benefit for you, the online entrepreneur, to have access to outside help, such as a Virtual Assistant (VA). One of the main “draws” to using a VA is the cost-effectiveness; you just pay for the time your VA spends on your specific project(s)—in addition, you can happily say “good-bye” to overhead costs when you engage a VA.
Some of the benefits to using a VA
- A VA operates from a remote location in her own fully operational office, with the latest occupational machines and software packages, so she finances her own utilities, telephone costs, and other associated amenities, and
- You’re freed from paying taxes and insurances costs for the in-house employee, and
- You don’t even have to be a “know-it-all” in each and every office procedure imaginable or have all the high-tech equipment
- Under your current circumstances you can’t take the time to find the assistance you need to help you operate your business so a VA can fill that void.
- Without some sort of outside support for your operation you realize you will be able to do no more than the basics that keep your business alive.
And right now, that means–no marketing, no networking; no nothing new!
So this is as good a time as any to let a VA (or some other outsourcer) “do your online walking for you.” Things like:
- Lining up appointments and keeping your schedule up-to-date.
- Communicating regularly with your clients, your business associates and managing your speaking engagements or purchase orders
- Managing email and promotions
- Creating Desktop Publishing, web design, or similar needs
In the process, your days will be shorter, your workload lighter and you really will begin to see that light at the end of the tunnel.
So here’s to you in “new beginnings,”
