Creating Link Wheels For Your Site

Link wheels are growing in popularity and are a great way to gain extra exposure and link juice for your website or blog.

Basically, a link wheel is a series of web 2.0 sites which all offer content related to your niche or site topic. The sites are then linked to each other and also back to your main website. When the link wheel was initially created it was a basic wheel similar to the illustration below.

Today’s link wheels are more involved and include more dynamic linking strategies. Instead of linking directly from Web 2.0 sites to your main site, newer link wheels link from web 2.0 sites, through article marketing sites, then to your website. In addition, some link wheels involve outside bookmarking from sites like Digg and Delicious to the Web 2.0 sites, through the article directories and then to your site.

The reason for the complexity is to bring more link juice from a variety of sources to your main site through indirect linking. The farthest links would have the least amount of juice and serve only to plump up the web 2.0 sites and then the article directory link. This gives the links more authority and value, which in turn gives your site’s backlinks more value. (more…)

Why Google Doesn’t Matter!

I’ve had many a friend and associate ask me why is it that I don’t care if my site is ranked high in Google? The answer is very simple.. Google is not the be all end all of internet traffic!

An old friend of mine came over all depressed because he was put into Google’s “Banned List”, meaning his site would no longer appear in Google Search Results.

I sat him down, and explained to him that Google is not the be all end all of internet traffic sources.. Did you know that only about 20% (YES that is TWENTY PERCENT) of all internet traffic is routed through Google? The other 80% comes from other sources! So don’t worry so much about Google, while a high rating there is good, you are missing out on a whole other world of internet traffic!

You still have other search engines, back links, social bookmarks and even article marketing to drive traffic to your site. You don’t need to worry about Google, as you may even get better results from somewhere else!

I’m going to talk about the top 2 sources other than Google where you can get a boatload of internet traffic: Social Bookmarking and Article Marketing.

Social Bookmarking has become all the craze these days, and there are many different social book marking sites and services available for you to choose from.. Now why would you use social bookmarking? Well here’s the deal… While Google may ban your site.. You will still show up in the Google searches under the social bookmarks! So HA! Google doesn’t have the last say after all! Not only that, but social bookmarks offer a permanent link back to your site, which will continue to deliver you traffic for some time..

Let’s talk about article marketing for a moment as well. Article marketing is a rather sneaky way for us to get our websites noticed in the search engines, and also have people visit our websites. We can post an article for example on “Ezine Articles” and when someone goes there and reads the article they may just decide to go to your website to read more about the topic. This is why it is always a good idea to have a bunch of articles on your website related to your niche. This will not only help raise the value of your website, but you will rank higher in the social bookmark world as well, as readers will bookmark your articles!

Imagine you have 10 articles, and each article is read 10 times, and out of those 10 just TWO bookmarked your article? That’s TWENTY brand new back links to your article, and hence to your site! Now imagine you did that just ONCE a week! That would give you TWENTY new back links to your article, PLUS at least 10 new visitors to your site! And the traffic would just keep increasing!

So, the next time you worry about Google… Don’t.. They like to think of themselves as the biggest kid on the playground, but in truth… They aren’t as big as they think…
